About Gant

Gant began in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1949, when the shirtmaker Bernard Gantmacher and his sons founded Gant of New Haven. The Yale Co-op was one of the first shops to sell its button-down Oxford shirts, and they became part of the Ivy League look.

It is a premium casualwear brand, above mass-market labels in price and below the designer houses. Its shirts and knitwear are reliable sellers to men and women who dress smart casual, and they rarely date from one season to the next.
